"The Plan is a society of rooms."
- Louis Kahn
House out East is made of 5 pavilions with flow of movement & landscape between. The fluttering roofs and porches are inspired by Chinese paintings of architecture in nature.
The house is conceived as a transition between arrival - The city, The town, work life, shopping, The car - and Nature. Art is foregrounded in this transition, where the landscape is framed in different ways from the inside to the out - courtyards, rooms, porches, pergolas, paths.
